  System x3755 memory options
The x3755 supports up to four CPU/Memory cards. Each card (which comes populated with a
processor) adds 8 DIMM slots. The maximum memory capacity is 32GB per processor installed
(128GB of memory in 32 DIMM slots, with all four processors installed). The x3755's Xcelerated
Memory Technology uses PC2-5300 double data rate II (DDR II) memory (operating at 667MHz,
even fully configured) for fast access. This is up to 15% faster than competitive Opteron-based
servers7. The system provides Active Memoryâ„¢ features, including advanced Chipkill memory
protection, for up to 16X better error correction than standard ECC memory. Chipkill protection is
a global setting. (That is, either all processors have Chipkill enabled or none do.)

The IBM System x3755 provides breakthrough entry pricing with two Quad-Core AMD Opteronâ„¢ processors delivering the performance necessary for general business computing. Unlike competitive systems, the x3755 can operate, without performance loss, in a three-processor  configuration. The innovative IBM CPU Pass Thru card delivers near linear performance and flexible configurations with headroom to grow, providing real savings without sacrificing performance. For instance, the x3755 configured with three processors plus the CPU Pass Thru card outperformed the HP DL585G2 by 27.7% configured with four processors.

 RAID Controllers

The x3755 has a disk subsystem that is comprised of an Adaptec AIC-9580W Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) controller and four internal hot-swap drive bays. The integrated ServeRAID-8k-l controller offers hardware RAID-0/1/10 support.   The ServeRAID-8k option adds three additional RAID levels, including RAID-1E, 5 and 6, along with 256MB of cache memory for higher performance, and battery backup, without consuming a valuable adapter slot. The SAS controller provides data transfer speeds of up to 300MB per second in each direction (full-duplex) across the SAS bus, for an aggregate speed of 600MBps, nearly double that of Ultra320.

Drive Bays
The x3755 contains 4 hard drive bays in all.   Only sas drives supported.  No diskette drive is supplied with any model; an external USB floppy drive may be used, if needed (40K1692).

Express drives cannot be used on special bids

 PCI Subsystem

The x3755 has six PCI slots as follows:

One full-length PCI Express x16 slot
Two full-length PCI Express x8 slots
One full-length PCI Express x4 slot
Two full-length 64-bit, PCI-X 1.0, 100/133 MHz slots
One half-length HTX slot

Important: PCI slot 1 and 2 (PCI Express x16 and PCI Express x8) are only enabled if
either a CPU/memory card or a PassThru card is installed in CPU slot 2. PCI slot 7 (HTX)
is only enabled if at least three CPU/memory card are installed.
