Support for up to six  HS20, HS21, HS21 XM, HC10, LS20, LS21 or LS41 Blades   


• Two 950-watt/1450-watt power supplies for power redundancy;                                       
                   additional power supply options available                                                                               
• Four hot-swap fan packs standard                                                                                          
• Two optional Disk Storage Modules for HDDs, six 3.5-inch SAS/SATA drives each       
• Support for common I/O switches as other BladeCenter chassis                                       
• One Advanced Management Module with built-in KVM support standard                          
• IBM Director and Storage Configuration Manager (SCM), which supports blades and   
 HDDs in the BladeCenter S chassis                                                                          
• Ability to integrate Ethernet networking

BladeCenter S Chassis Midplane  -   Only 1 ethernet switch required to connect both ethernet ports on blades.   Second ethernet switch in Bay 2 requires ethernet card 44W4479 in blades.    I/O Bays 3 and 4 switches must match!

 PDU tips and hints

  • When populating a PDU you can never exceed it's amperage limitation

  • Rack PDUs have 15A

  • FE PDUs have either a 24A, 48A (North American) or 32A, 63A (World Trade)

  • High Density PDU limits:

  • North American 60A single phase- 48A total; 60A three phase 27A/ phase

  • International/World Trade 63A single phase -63A total; 32A three phase 32A/ phase

  • Front End PDUs can be used to directly power high amperage servers when required

  • HD PDUs can act as a Front End PDU or it can be used directly to power servers
