X306 Models with Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology (EM64T) 64-bit extensions allow the Pentium 4 processor to use large memory addressing when running with a 64-bit operating system. This can result in higher performance. Additional registers and instructions (SSE3) can further boost performance for applications written to use them. Customers should contact their software provider to determine their software support for EM64T.

The x306 supports a maximum of 4GB of memory via 4 DIMM slots.  A single DIMM configuration is valid if installed in socket DIMM  1. Otherwise, DIMMs must be configured in matched pairs starting with DIMM sockets 1 and 3, then 2 and 4. Single DIMM models require the standard DIMM either matched or removed, before adding additional memory in pairs. (Note: The higher performance offered by PC3200 memory requires that only PC3200 DIMMs be installed.) Note: The DIMMs below are sold as single DIMMS

The x306 offers a choice of disk storage, supporting up to two internal HDDs: Serial ATA Simple-swap SATA, 7,200 RPM — 80, 160 or 250GB (500GB maximum) Note: Simple-swap SATA drives are not hot-swap (the system has to be powered off first), however, no tools are required for installation and removal, allowing for faster, simpler servicing than fixed drives. SCSI Fixed Ultra320, 10,000 RPM — 36.4, 73.4 or 146.8GB (293.6GB) Fixed Ultra320, 15,000 RPM — 36.4 or 73.4GB (146.8GB) If the customer needs more storage space, terabyte capacities are possible with optional external IBM ServeRAID SCSI and FAStT Fibre Channel solutions.
