Another First For Tech Data And Cisco
Tech Data is the first distributor to host hands-on reseller trainings for the Cisco Unified Computing System™ B- and C-Series servers. The distributor opened the Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) data center in its 6,000-square-foot solutions center at its Clearwater, FL headquarters. The facility includes eight Cisco UCS B-Series blade servers, two Cisco UCS C-Series rack-mount servers, two Cisco Nexus® 7000 switches, two Cisco Nexus 5000 switches, two Cisco MDS 9134 fibre channel switches, a Cisco MDS 9222i fibre channel switch, and two Cisco UCS 6120 fabric interconnects. In addition, the Cisco UCS data center includes the EMC CLARiiON storage system, VMware vSphere™ and VMware View™ virtualization platforms, and APC power and cooling solutions to demonstrate a fully optimized data center environment. Tech Data implemented significant enhancements to techdata.com that solve many of the long-standing, complex issues associated with special-bid pricing in the channel. First, Tech Data is capturing all vendor special-bid pricing promotions available to resellers and making that pricing available on techdata.com at the point of purchase. The company also created the Promotion Search tool, which enables resellers to track all active special-bid pricing available to them and their end-user customers. Tech Data Director, Software Product Marketing Toby McDuffie was named to Everything Channel’s CRN Magazine annual Women of the Channel list. CRN’s list of top female executives recognizes these women for “their accomplishments over the past year and the far-reaching impact they are having on the technology industry going forward.”

McDuffie is a member of the senior management team leading Tech Data’s Software Division. She is responsible for Tech Data’s software supply chain improvement initiative, a multi-phase project that will fundamentally change how software licenses are managed and sold through the channel.
